On November 24th 2018, we met with many Syrian families for a Thanksgiving gathering in El Cajon. Family Welcome Center initiated this event and invited volunteers from different faith-based groups to come and serve. It was such a joyful time for us to reconnect with some of the families that we have been documenting and the youths were very happy to see us as well. In the middle of the gathering, some Syrian people stood up and started to do a traditional dance around the tables as Dlan, one of our film subjects performed his music. Not too long after, all the people in the room stood to their feet and joined in the long dance line. This was truly a moment that you would love to see.
